YUI KYOTANI

Principal Artiste

Yui began her ballet training at age 8 in Nara City, Japan and was taught by Ena Hirose and Choong Wan Chin.

 

In 2007, she furthered her training at the Berlin State Ballet School in Germany taught by Larissa Dobrojan. She joined Leipzig Ballet in 2010 and Moravské Divadlo Olomouc in Czech Republic as a principal dancer in 2012.

 

Yui's repertoire principal roles includes Odette/Odile in 'Swan Lake', Clara in 'The Nutcracker', Princess Aurora/ Princess Florina in 'The Sleeping Beauty', Juliet in 'Romeo and Juliet' and Phrygia in 'Spartacus', Nikiya/Gamzatti in 'La bayadere', Giselle/Myrtha in 'Giselle', Marguerite Gautier in 'Lady of the Camellias' just to name a few.

 

In 2018, Yui was invited as a guest artiste to perform Myrtha in KL Dance Works Production’s full-length ballet 'Giselle' at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur.

 

In 2013 she was nominated for the Thalia Award for her portrayal of the dual role of Odetta / Odilie in the production Swan Lake, in 2016 she received another nomination as Marguerite Gautier in the production Lady with Camellias. In 2017, she received the ‘Thalia Award Czech Republic 2016’ (1st place Best Ballet Artiste) for her performance as Kitri in the production ‘Don Quixote’.

On June 6, 2021, she was introduced to the Moravian Theatre's Hall of Fame and became the first foreign Emerita Member of Moravian Theatre Olomouc.

BENJAMIN COOK

Soloist Artiste

Benjamin graduated from the Elmhurst School of Dance and the Royal Ballet School.

 

He joined Moravské Divadlo Olomouc in Czech Republic from 2016 to 2021 performing soloist roles. From 2012 to 2015 he danced at Vienna Festival Ballet, UK as a Soloist dancer, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida and Orlando Ballet, USA.

​

During his studies, he received a medal at the American Dance Competition for a variation in ‘The Flames of Paris’ and the gold medal for a modern variation from the same competition.

​

Benjamin’s repertoires include Prince Siegfried in ‘Swan Lake’, Franz in ‘Coppélia’, Prince in’ The Nutcracker’, Prince Désiré in ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, Moor in ‘Petrushka’, and the man in ‘The Rite of Spring’.
